An interactive resource that supports child protection training

Safeguarding Children and Young People is suitable for all health, social care and occupational health professionals who are working to protect children. The programme aims to make a positive contribution to the prevention of physical, mental and sexual abuse as well as to reduce neglect. It has been developed by a consortium of professional bodies, led by the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH).

Safeguarding Children and Young People is arranged into three levels to suit both clinical and non-clinical staff, as described in the intercollegiate document Safeguarding Children and Young People: Roles and Competences for Health Care Staff 2014. However the themes are relevant to healthcare organisations globally.

Online child protection training

The content covers a broad range of issues such as the roles and responsibilities of staff, multi-agency working, what to do if a child discloses abuse, unexplained injuries, disability and neglect.

You can access the content online, studying in the workplace, at home or on the move.

This high-quality e-learning resource is already making a significant impact on current safeguarding training and education provision both in the UK and globally.

Please note that this package also includes Health Education England's Safeguarding Adults programme as an added bonus. This resource supports all health and social care staff in protecting vulnerable adults from abusive environments. For further details, go to: www.e-lfh.org.uk/programmes/safeguarding-adults
