About the Programme
The Dermatology programme is an online learning resource developed by the British Association of Dermatologists (BAD) in partnership with NHS England Technology Enhanced Learning (NHSE TEL).
Originally designed for trainees, it is now freely available to all NHS clinicians and healthcare professionals, including resident doctors, specialty doctors, GPs, physician associates and nurses.
Dermatology is designed to complement existing teaching initiatives and sessions take around 20 minutes to complete. They are suitable for both interactive and remote learning, featuring high-resolution images, video clips and animated interactions to enhance visual accessibility.
The programme includes both:
- Clinical scenario-based sessions (following patients from presentation to management)
- Knowledge-based sessions with interactive questions
Sessions can be followed in any order, allowing a fully flexible learning experience.
After completing this course, you should be able to:
- Understand the fundamental principles of skin assessment and examination, including history-taking and lesion recognition
- Understand the anatomy and physiology of the skin and how these underpin disease and treatment
- Recognise and manage common inflammatory skin disorders such as eczema and psoriasis
