Proton Beam Therapy module goes live

A new module on Proton Beam Therapy (eProton) has been added to the Advanced Radiotherapy programme (Radiotherap-e).

eProton, which is arranged into seven bite-sized sessions, provides useful information on proton beam therapy (PBT) for healthcare professionals working in radiotherapy and related services. This includes clinical oncologists, medical physicists, therapy radiographers and dosimetrists.

Topics covered include:

  • the history of PBT
  • clinical indications and side effects
  • physical characteristics and generation of proton beams
  • treatment planning and delivery
  • radiation protection
  • the multi-disciplinary patient pathway

eProton has been developed in partnership with The Royal College of Radiologists, the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine, the College of Radiographers and NHS England e-Learning for Healthcare.

Richard Bryant, from eIntegrity, said: “This new module reflects the importance of the emerging area of PBT in cancer care and it is a timely addition to our Radiotherap-e e-learning programme.”

eProton can be bought as part of the full Radiotherap-e package or as an individual module.
