Musculoskeletal e-Learning Programme is launched

The Musculoskeletal (MSK) Primary Care e-Learning Programme is now available through eIntegrity. The programme is aimed at GPs and other allied healthcare professionals, such as physiotherapists.

MSK conditions affect the joints, bones and muscles, and also include rarer autoimmune diseases and back pain. More years are lived with musculoskeletal disability than any other long-term condition. Research shows that around 20% of a GP’s case work relates to musculoskeletal issues[1].

So, it is vital that GPs and the wider healthcare team understand how to identify and distinguish MSK symptoms from other conditions and how best to support service users living with these problems.

The new eIntegrity programme features eight e-learning sessions covering:

  • What is primary care
  • Identification of the ill and at risk
  • Mental health in primary care
  • Complex decision-making managing patients with comorbidity
  • Public health
  • Persistent pain
  • Overview of medicines and prescribing
  • Serious pathology of the spine

The new sessions include knowledge components, images, diagrams, videos and self-assessment questions to enable learners to check their understanding on key topics.

Using case studies, learners can also review a patient’s symptoms and make a diagnosis – helping to build their knowledge and experience in a virtual consultation. Each e-learning session takes 20 to 30 minutes to complete.

The content is available online, in common with all eIntegrity learning programmes.
