Becoming Simulation Faculty
NHS England’s Technology Enhanced Learning team have created the Becoming Simulation Faculty programme for higher education institutions and healthcare organisations who want to design, deliver and evaluate simulation and immersive learning and develop successful multi-professional simulation faculties.
This programme is relevant for both UK and international organisations and supports those interested in applying simulation and immersive technologies to patient safety and quality improvement workstreams.
The use of simulation and immersive technologies enhances the education and training of the current and future workforce, whilst also enabling learners to have a “hands-on” experience. However, it is imperative that the faculty have appropriate capabilities to apply these innovative training methods and resources effectively.
The national Becoming Simulation Faculty programme is CPD accredited and has been formally endorsed by the Association for Simulated Practice in Healthcare (ASPiH), the UK’s leading professional body for simulation-based education and practice.
After completing the programme, learners will have CPD accredited evidence of professional development in this field, which can be used to help focus further attainment of skills and practise, as well as to use within personal portfolios for appraisal purposes.
The elearning content is delivered through 17 sessions across six modules. Sessions are designed to take between 20 and 30 minutes and we estimate that the whole programme will take around 7 hours.
